"Doug! Go get 'The Bucket'!" my mother would holler to my father whenever my brother or I had the flu. Normally, the bucket held the cleaning solution and water she used while mopping the floors. When either one of us kids were sick, "The Bucket" would be transformed into a puke-catcher. Mom would put about a quarter of an inch of water in the bottom of "The Bucket" and place it on the floor where we could easily lean over from our beds when the urge to puke came. I guess the idea was to keep her from having to wash soiled sheets or a trail of vomit from our beds to the bathroom. I am pretty sure I recall her washing a lot of sheets. Heh heh heh!
Funny, I do not recall you kids being sick very often...and I certainly do not recall ever getting "The Bucket" ready!
