How to Clean Your Flat Stove Top

I learned a GREAT trick for cleaning flat-top of your electric stove yesterday..something I found on Facebook, actually. WOW! Did it ever work beautifully--considering I had just fried up a batch of zucchini, potato, and carrot pancakes (Epic fail, by the way...never put cumin in a zucc/potato pancake recipe. Yuck!) and the stove top was a grease-splattered, cooked-egg-droplet mess.
  • First, lightly sprinkle the stove top with baking soda.
  • Next, soak a towel in hot soapy water. (I used two to make sure the entire surface would be covered.)
  • Squeeze half the water out of the towel and place on top of soda-sprinkled cook top. Wait 10-15 minutes.
  • Then, lightly swish the towel around the stove top surface making sure to get the goop off.
  • With a clean, damp cloth, wipe off any remaining residue. Polish with a clean dry cloth.
  • Finally, admire your sparkley-shiney-clean flat top!
